The Ortona Armoury Tenants Association (OATA) collaborates with the Ortona Gallery to host the Artist in Residence (AIR) program. OATA does open public call for artists or arts collectives to submit proposals of any media for exhibition, performance or installation based work. The residency is 100% funded by OATA and is facilitated by its grassroots community.
The artist or artists occupy the Ortona Gallery (16’ x 25’ + 14’ high) located on the 2nd floor of the Ortona Armoury Arts Building.
The residency must have a exhibition or performance component open to the public.
Residency includes:
- stipend,
- 24 hour access for 6 weeks: 4 weeks for creation & 2 weeks for exhibition,
- Promotion + vernissage / opening costs,
Past Artists in Residence include: Krista Acheson, Patrick Byers, Jacqueline Fiala, Carly Greene, Jimmy Golden, Paddy Lamb, Hilary Mussell, Beth Pederson, Scott Portingale, Tim Rechner & Caitlin Sian Richards
*The AIR program is currently suspended due to the forced displacement of the tenants by the City of Edmonton in light of the building rehabilitation.
